Our Counselling Team

Kerrie Bannister – Grad Dip EFT, Ad Dip Couns, PACFA Reg Clinical.  Kerrie initially trained with St Mark’s Theological College and has since undertaken extensive training at the Institute of Emotionally Focused Therapy. She joined the Cottage in 2011 and was appointed Deputy Director in 2015. Kerrie works with individuals; employing an integrative approach with an emphasis on emotion focused techniques. Areas of experience include anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, abuse and life transitions.


Keren Calvert – MA (Psych), Dip Clin Psych, Adv Dip Community Services Work, MACA.  Keren is a Registered Psychologist and Counsellor. She began working with the Cottage in 2010 and is experienced in working with adults in a range of areas, including anxiety, depression, grief and self-esteem.


Debbie Christov – Grad Dip Couns MAPC.  Debbie worked for several years specializing in crisis intervention  before joining The Cottage as a generalist counsellor in 2003. Debbie has a special interest in working on relationship health, but also works with individual issues.


Genevieve Cribb – BSW MHA MAASW(Acc). Genni is a clinical social worker and has been counselling since 1995. She has worked with The Cottage since 2003 and is an experienced supervisor and trainer as well. Her counselling experience is broad however she does see a lot of survivors of violence, both children and adults. She is passionate about providing good quality personalised support to people who have been most hurt and may be least able to pay – that’s why she is committed to the Cottage Counselling Centre.


Bronwyn Dillon – Ad Dip Couns, Grad Dip Rel Couns, Ad Dip Theo Chaplaincy. Bronwyn trained as a counsellor with St Mark’s Theological college, along with Chaplaincy through C3 College and Chaplaincy Australia. Bronwyn has worked with aged homelessness and managing behaviours before joining The Cottage as a generalist counsellor in 2016. She works with individuals and couples employing an intergrative approach with understanding of life stages and impact of grief and loss.


Anna Felice – Master of Counselling, Bachelor of Counselling & Human Change, PACFA Reg. Clinical 22418, CCAA Clinical No. 92685.   Anna is in her 8th year of clinical counselling practice.  She has recently joined The Cottage whilst continuing counselling practice in other locations.  Anna works with individuals and couples.  She is particularly interested in working with people recovering from a variety of traumas; dysfunctional family, abuse, neglect, bullying, etc., with people suffering from DV & other relationship struggles and with parents wanting to better help their children.  Her ongoing professional development complements these areas of work.


Kate McMaughB Psych (Hons), Post Grad Dip Hlth Prom, MHlthSc, Post Grad Cert Prof Psych. Kate is a registered psychologist with 25 years’ experience in a wide variety of health and welfare services and roles including counselling, research and service management. Kate provides counselling for relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, depression, anxiety, stress management, and trauma to adolescents, adults and couples.

Kate has a special interest in trauma and in dissociative disorders and has considerable experience in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including accidents, assaults, child abuse, domestic violence, workplace and vicarious trauma. Kate also provides specialist parenting support to parents who are themselves survivors of child abuse

Kate also has post graduate training in health education and health promotion and has an interest in counselling to support health-related lifestyle change including sleep problems, quitting smoking, alcohol and drug use, exercise and healthy eating.


Jen Lakos – Grad Dip Couns, Grad Dip EFT, PACFA Reg Clinical 20945. Jen joined The Cottage in 2003 after completing her training at Wesley Institute. Since then she has completed a Grad Dip in Emotionally Focused Therapy.  Jen is a Clinical Counsellor and Therapist working with individuals and couples, she also works as a Clinical Supervisor and trainer. Jen was appointed Director of The Cottage in 2014. She works with a broad range of issues with a particular interest in long term work healing the far reaching effects of childhood trauma.


Nicola Lock – B.Sc, Grad Dip EFT, MMin, MAPC, AAOS, PACFA Reg Clinical. Nicola was the founding Director of The Cottage and has been working in the counselling field for over 25 years. She has a broad generalist counselling practice, with a special focus on relationship counselling and sexual addictions. Nicola is also a Clinical Supervisor and maintains a role as Clinical Consultant to the Centre since stepping down from the Director’s position in 2009.


Joanne Martens – BA, BHSc, Ad Dip Couns, Grad Dip Rel Couns, MAPC. Joanne joined The Cottage in 2014, having previously worked at the Salvation Army Counselling Centre at Rhodes. Joanne works with individuals, couples and children. She has particular skills in drug and alcohol related issues and associated family crisis support and management.


John Parmentier – Ad Dip Couns, MAPC. John trained as a counsellor with St Mark’s Theological College, joining The Cottage in 2009.  Working with individuals, couples and as a trainer, he loves helping people reach their full potential. John has developed his specialty in working with men’s issues.


Stan Win -BSc Atmos, MCouns. Stan received his Masters of Counselling from Morling College. Using an integrative and relational approach, he finds it a great honour to bring hope and light in the midst of life’s many challenges. Stan also has a passion for couple therapy.
